All training methods will use positive reinforcement techniques, including hand signals, voice commands, and a marker word(s). Throughout the classes, we will also use basic rewards such as touch, voice, loose leash, play, and treats. These programs are not appropriate for dogs that are reactive to people or other dogs.We will work towards giving your puppy a head start. Your puppy will learn basic commands, focus and attention, sit, down, wait and stay, walk on a loose leash, walk through a door correctly, and recall (come), to name a few. Each of the 6-week lessons will also focus on your concerns, like housebreaking, chewing, barking and jumping, etc. This class will teach you the reasoning behind a puppy’s thought process and the prevention of and response to unwanted behaviors. Students interested in obtaining their dog's AKC S.T.A.R. Certification can test at the end of the class.Bring soft treats, 6' leash (no retractable/expandable leashes), and clean-up bags to each class. Please do not wear sandals without a back strap. On the first day of class please bring: your dog's vaccination papers (need to see only, you can keep), completed registration form which will be e-mailed to you prior to class, and $15 materials fee paid directly to the instructor (covers equipment and documents provided throughout the six-week program).Refunds will not be issued after the second class has occurred.
