For the 2024 summer Rookie League baseball will be joining the Southeast Baseball League. Joining the Southeast Baseball League will increase the total number of practices and games as well as have new opponents of similar skill in surrounding communities.For league play, there will be games against surrounding communities. They will have both home and away (played in surrounding communities) games on weeknights. They will also have evening practices during the week.Rookie League Players (ages 7-8) will engage in learning basic baseball rules, strategy, skills, and fundamentals. Parent coaches/volunteers will be needed for all teams!Coaches will be in contact with parents/guardians with a practice and game schedule. Please be patient with us as we work towards getting coaches, practice schedules, and games schedules. League games begin mid-May with an end of the season tournament on June 22-23.All players registered before the March 26th deadline are guaranteed to receive a jersey and hat. Age of player is based off their age on January 1, 2024.Scholarships are available by first obtaining a Proof of Financial Assistance Form from the Department of Social Services and then registering in person at the Vermillion Recreation Office.All cancellations will be posted on the Vermillion Parks and Recreation Facebook page, Twitter page and on our website main page https://www.vermillion.us/223/Parks-Recreation
