Pony Baseball (Ages 12–14) The City of Azusa's Pony Baseball Program provides a fun, safe, and supportive environment where participants ages 12 through 14 can continue developing their baseball skills, build friendships, and enjoy the game in a positive recreational setting. The program focuses on player development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and creating a positive baseball experience for all participants. Age Eligibility Participants must be 12–14 years old during the current season. Age verification may be required. Registration Registration Fee: $50 per participant Registration is open until 9/16/26 or when the league reaches capacity. Participants may register online through CivicRec or by contacting the Recreation Division Office at 626-812-5280 during normal business hours (Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM–5:30 PM). Pasadena Ave.Azusa, CA 91702 The Player Workout will allow Recreation Staff to evaluate player skills, introduce the program, and help prepare teams for the upcoming season. Practices Begin: week of September 21 Season Ends: November The Fall season typically includes 4–6 games depending on scheduling and league format. Player Workout & Team Formation The Player Workout gives participants an opportunity to participate in baseball drills and activities led by Recreation Staff while preparing for team assignments. After the player workout: Teams will be formed based on registration numbers and player evaluations. Players will be assigned to a team and coach. Coaches will receive their team roster and contact parents with practice information. Practice schedules, game schedules, and additional season information will be shared after teams have been formed. League Format Teams will be formed based on registration numbers. If enough participants register to create a City of Azusa league, teams will compete against other Azusa teams. If registration numbers do not allow for a full league, the Recreation Division will work with surrounding local baseball organizations to schedule games against other teams in the area. Coaching Teams will be led by a combination of City of Azusa Recreation Staff and volunteer coaches. All coaches are required to complete the City's volunteer process, including a background check, prior to participating with the program. Coaches are committed to creating a positive, safe, and encouraging environment while helping players continue to develop their baseball skills. Practices & Games All practices and games are held at Gladstone Park414 S. Pasadena Ave.Azusa, CA 91702 Practices are typically scheduled Monday through Friday between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM and last approximately 90 minutes. Games are generally scheduled during the same weekday time frame. Saturday games may be scheduled as needed. Players typically meet 3–4 times per week, including practices and games. Communication Once teams have been formed, coaches will contact parents with their practice schedule and season information. Parents should ensure their contact information is current during registration so they receive all program communications.
