Description

When does a bowl become more than just a functional form? In this 8-week class we will focus on bowls as a way to refine throwing skills, improve consistency, and explore subtle design decisions. We will work on throwing larger serving bowls, addressing the challenges of centering more clay, opening wider forms that don't collapse, and maintaining consistent walls. Students will also learn techniques for making sets that nicely nest into one another. Trimming and refinement will be an ongoing focus. This class is designed for students with some pottery experience, though beginners are welcome.
