Description
Join us for a sensory hike starting at Lock 29 on the C&O Canal. We will stop at the Catoctin Aqueduct take in the sights and complete a mindfulness activity. This program gives individuals intellectual with and developmental differences the chance to explore all nature has to offer. The trail is a 1 mile out and back hike. The hike will take approximately 1 hour including a mindfulness activity. Essential Eligibility: Program levels 1 - 3. Participants must be able to provide personal care with the assistance of a caregiver who is onsite and be able to actively participate in a group with a instructor participant ratio of 1:4. Participants must also be able to navigate uneven terrain, including grass and dirt surfaces with the assistance of a caregiver who is onsite. Participants will stay with group with continuous supervision.Goals: To increase physical activity, gross motor skills, and body coordination.
