Exploring Culture in the Parks: Three Men, Three Boats

In this virtual introduction, Exploring Culture in the Parks will visit the site of Malcom Boat, named for the local explorer who uncovered the remains while fishing along the Ashley. His discovery sparked a flurry of activity to discover the history of this vessel and the times in which it may have been used. The second boat will tell the story of the enslaved at McLeod who built the boat and how it was used. The third and final story will explore the maroon community and how boats were used for refuge.
