Guitar Fingerstyle: Introduction

Description
We will use a modified guitar tuning in the Key of C, to get jump started into the fun of making music with the guitar. Students should have good chord changing skills whether right or left-handed, between these 9 chord formations: A (1 finger), Am, A7, C, D, Dm, E, Em, and an F will be helpful too. We’ll also introduce finger picking patterns which will require a lot of practice, a sense of humor, and an understanding spouse. We are going to play some arrangements where we accompany ourselves (singing, humming, whistling. you pick), but then we’ll transition to try our skills playing a chord melody. We’ll start by playing songs we have likely known for years, with the goals of memorizing and playing them for ourselves, and maybe friends and family too. Listening to music is required.
