Description
The tradition of Jodie Harrison basketball is one that families look forward to as winter approaches. With the help of Breakaway Basketball, our recreation league is open to 2nd - 8th graders, focusing on instruction and helping kids learn and enjoy the game of basketball. All players will receive a t-shirt or jersey, all 2nd/3rd graders receive a medal, and 4th-8th grade top 2 teams receive trophies. One practice and game per week commitment. Practice Days/Times:Practice begins the week of January 5th and are 1 hour each, 1 day a week. Practices are led by Breakaway Basketball coaches with the help of Volunteer Parent Coaches. We do not guarantee any practice days or times. Practices could take place anytime Monday-Friday. Practice times are not known until league registration is closed/ teams are formed and based partially on Breakaway Basketball and Volunteer Coach availability. Game Days :Game times are dependent on gym space availabilityNo games on President’s Day Weekend (2/18 and 2/19)Outside refs will be hired for each game, Breakaway Basketball is not reffing on game days.Saturdays (1/14-3/11) - 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade boysSundays (1/15-3/12) - 4th grade girls, 5th/6th grade, 7th/8th grade Location: All games and practices will be played at The Community House or area schools.Volunteer Coaches:Needed at every grade level. A coaches meeting will be held Tuesday, December 6th at 6:00pm at The Community House. There is a 3 coach max per team.Refund Policy:Last Day for refunds is 12/28/22. All refunds will be charged a 50% processing fee after 12/21/22. These dates gives enough time to see rosters and schedules. Team Selection: The Recreation Supervisor will select all teams first based on years of experience, then based on school they attend. We will accept placement requests, but they are not guaranteed. A limited number of spots are available in each grade level. Teams will typically have 10 players each. Please see our website for team selection details.
