Description
OYS Winter Basketball is a developmental basketball league designed to introduce beginners to the sport of basketball in a fun, engaging environment. Each week, players practice once a week to learn the basic fundamentals of the sport. Participants will be placed onto teams based on school location, age, coach availability, and randomization. Each player will receive a reversible OYS basketball jersey at the start of the season. Teams will practice once during the midweek and play a game each Saturday for a total of seven games. Since this age division practices at city facilities, which are Community Center and Art & Garden Center, a 3% facility preservation fee will be added on to the registration fee - https://www.cityoforinda.org/400/Facility-Preservation-Fee. *SEE BELOW FOR LEAGUE INFORMATION* ***PLEASE NOTE THAT THE TIMES LISTED ONLINE DO NOT REFLECT THE ACTUAL TIMES FOR THE SEASON. The Recreation Coordinator will send a schedule out 2-3 weeks before the season starts.*** What to Bring: Size 4 Basketball - 25.5" Athletic Shoes (Basketball shoes highly recommended) Water Bottle Jersey (provided by OYS) League Format: 4v4 NO SCORE OR STANDINGS ARE KEPT. League Schedule: Season begins week of 1/18/2027 Season ends on 3/13/2027 Practice Locations: Orinda Community Center or Wilder Art & Garden Center ***No practices on Monday January 18th, Friday February 12th, or Monday February 15th.*** Game Location: Orinda Intermediate School *Times and locations are subject to change. We greatly appreciate your flexibility.* ***No games on Saturday, February 13th.***
