Glaze Alterations: Color and TextureOften we want a glaze that is a different color or tone from the one we have available. Or we love the color of a glaze, but it is a bit too shiny. How do we make these changes? Our starting point will be several proven base glaze recipes. Then we will make some clay test tiles, employ testing techniques—like a simple line blend—to blend and add a few basic ceramic materials to achieve the changes we want. When we understand the fundamentals of glaze alterations, we can look at some individual glazes that you may want to alter. Our open studio allows abundant practice time during the week to make your own pieces to try out our new unique glazes Some ceramic experience will be helpful.Dates: August 16–September 20 (6 weeks)(Community Center will be closed 9/1–9/5 for maintenance and cleaning)Saturdays9:30–12noonFees: $150.
