SUNOL - Discover the spookier side of Sunol and meet our live animal ambassadors at night. Drop-in to the Sunol Visitor Center during these special nighttime hours to meet our reptiles, amphibians and arachnids, taste bat pollinated foods and more! This will be a Halloween-themed visitor center 'open house' with staff showing live animal ambassadors including Lumpy the gopher snake. Halloween costumes are encouraged! Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Optional bat fly-out viewing Suggested to Bring: warm clothing layers, drinking water, optional mug for hot chocolate/apple cider Follow us on Facebook, Sunol Wilderness Regional Preserve! Participants must adhere to East Bay Regional Park District COVID guidelines at all times. From Fremont, drive north on I-680 and exit at Calaveras Road (near the town of Sunol.) Turn right at the exit onto Calaveras Road and proceed about four miles to a left turn onto Geary Road, which leads directly into the park. (If you find yourself driving uphill on a narrow winding road you’ve missed the Geary Road turnoff.) To reach the visitor center take the first left after the park entrance. From the Oakland-Berkeley area, drive east on I-580 to the junction with I-680. Take I-680 south and exit at Calaveras Road/Highway 84 just south of the Sunol exit. At the bottom of the exit, turn left onto Calaveras Road and proceed as noted above.
