Event Quick Facts
About This Event
16+. American Tango evolved from the dance first developed in Buenos Aires Argentina in the 1880s. American Tango is a passionate and sultry dance that emphasizes close body contact between the partners. It is characterized by staccato movements across the dance floor. American Style Tango features sharp movements, head snaps, and a panther-like and stealthy foot action. American Tango moves around the dance floor. It is counted in 4/4 time with Slows (2 beats) and Quicks (1 beat). The music of Tango is very dramatic. We begin by learning and practicing basic patterns. You will build on new dance skills to learn how to blend several patterns together so that you will be able to dance and enjoy the music. This class is for Newcomers to Tango. No partner required. Participants must be registered three (3) days before the start of class.
