Ukulele RootsUkulele Roots is a class for students who are new to the Ukulele.READING:Name the musical alphabet (A–G)Exposure to standard notation and/or ukulele tabIdentify the string names and numbersIdentify finger numbersRHYTHM:Understand how to read and play whole, half, quarter-note rhythms and restsDemonstrate ability to play in 4/4CHORDS:Understand how to read chord boxesPlay chords: C, C7, Am, FSCALES/MELODY:Play simple single-string riffs/melodies (“Smoke on the Water,” etc.)PLAYING/TECHNIQUE:Demonstrate proper playing posture (body, arm, hand)Play using fingers 1–3Students will perform in a concert with their class during Concert Week, December 5-10
