This course is a short review of the top ten American poets based on critical consensus. Each session will examine several poets, their styles and impact. Top contenders are Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson, Robert Frost, and others. Why poetry? In a time when Siri and AI can answer all our questions, our brains turn to mush. Poetry is concise. It requires focus and concentration. It expresses universal emotions. Analyzing poems keeps our brains active and gives us the opportunity to use critical thinking skills to explore the human condition.P.A.
