The Stoughton Recreation Department is teaming up with the recreation departments of Cottage Grove, Monona, McFarland, DeForest, and Maple Bluff to offer a 4-on-4 travel basketball league for children in 3rd and 4th grade! Unlike traditional 5-on-5 games, this program will feature 4-on-4 matchups to provide more playing time and opportunities for skill development. The focus will be on teaching the FUNdamentals of basketball while emphasizing good sportsmanship and teamwork.Practices: Twice a week 6p-7p on either M/WGames: Saturday morningsJerseys: Each player will receive a reversible jerseyWhy 4-on-4 Basketball?Playing 4-on-4 gives kids more space, time, and ball possessions, which are crucial for skill development. On average, 4-on-4 players get twice as many meaningful touches compared to those in a 5-on-5 game, helping them grow and engage more in the sport.Volunteer to Coach: Our program is led by dedicated parents and volunteers, under the support and guidance from Stoughton Parks and Recreation. We are looking for enthusiastic parent volunteers to conduct practices and coach during games. No prior coaching experience is necessary—just a passion for helping our youth sports programs succeed.
