Lifeguard Instructor Course

Course takes place at 1551 Mayview Road, Upper St. Clair, PA 15241. Manual: r.2017 ARC Manual is required. You may buy a hard copy of the book ($35) or you can download a free copy at www.redcross.org/participantmaterials Books will be received on the the first day of class. Requirements: Must have current basic certification in the following: Lifeguarding, Standard First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. Proof of current basic certifications is required on the first day of class. Must attend ALL classes, pass all writing exams (minimum of 80%), perform all required skills with 100% accuracy.Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) candidates must be: - 17 years of age;- able to demonstrate 300 yards continuous swim, using the front crawl and breaststroke;- retrieve a 10lb weight from 7-feet of water;- swim 20 yards; - with legs - only tread water with hands out of water for two minutes.
