This 1.5-mile walking tour explores the region’s history and culture one delicious bite at a time—from fried shrimp tacos at El Galeno, to tacos sudados and chimis at Taquería Porfis, sweet pan dulce at Panadería Espiga de Oro, and savory mochomos tacos at La Roca.Bring comfy walking shoes, a valid passport, layers for changing weather, a water bottle, sunscreen, and small U.S. bills for extras.Your guide, Alex La Pierre, co-founder of Borderlandia, brings deep knowledge and heart to every step. With a background in heritage interpretation through the National Park Service and Mexico’s INAH, he sees these tours as “citizen-level diplomacy”—bringing people together across borders through food and story. You’ll have time to use the restroom, check in, and meet your fellow taco trekkers before heading into Mexico together on foot.
